Whittier Council finishes specific plan discussion
Well it turns out I was wrong about the need for a sleeping bag for tonight's Whittier City Council meeting. It took them about three hours or so to go through 28 items. I'll have a quick and somewhat short report on the main page in our update area in a while. Then, there will be a longer story for Friday's newspaper.
Needless to say, this plan is getting closer and closer to becoming a reality. The council is expected to approve it at its Nov. 18 meeting.

There was a story in the Daily News a few weeks ago about the now-closed Union 76 station on Hadley, and the possibility of including it in the offical Uptown project area. What did the City Council decide to do?
Thanks for the question. It's a good one. However, I don't know the answer but will attempt to find out and will post what the city tells me.
Well here you go. Jeff Collier, director of community development, told me today that the gas station will be in what's called the Park Once District that will be set up by the Uptown Specific Plan.
What that means is that Bijan Radnia, owner of the former gas station, can buy into the district and meet his parking requirements, Collier said. For example, should Radnia need 15 additional parking spaces for his property, he could buy those spaces and get the parking from a future parking structure.
However, his additional parking will be on the other side of Hadley Street, so that might affect his property value, Collier said.
Hope this helps.
Mike,
Thanks for looking into my question and finding an answer; much appreciated.
