Lisa Dillman of the L.A. Times is reporting that the Clippers are in very serious talks with Allen Iverson. What does that mean for the future? Who knows.

Meanwhile, the Clippers and Lakers will tip in roughly 50 minutes in Las Vegas at the Thomas and Mack Center. Find out how to watch here.

In other news, here's a solid feature on Blake Griffin from Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Thanks for the follow up. It's nice to see more updates on this blog lately. We appreciate your work Pedro.

As for AI, I personally think it's a horrible move. He's about the last guy we need to influence the hard working youngsters.

Appreciate the comment, madglove, and I'd tend to agree with you. I mean, if the transaction essentially amounted to adding AI for around $5 million for 1 year, almost the full MLE ( which is what I've heard he's been offered from Memphis and wants from Miami) and maybe letting go of Ricky Davis, then I don't think it'll hurt the Clippers, as Iverson is certainly still more productive than Davis. Even in a huge down year, AI's PER was still nearly 16.

However, I think signing a Matt Barnes for $2-3 million would be a better move.

Pedro I completely agree on Barnes. Has there been any talk of considering him? Not a fan of his attitude, but he's played well with Baron in GSW and is a good wing defender.

I've heard that the Clippers have considered Barnes and that he is a possibility. You're definitely right on that -- his best offensive year came with Baron at the point in 2006-07.

Barnes has always had attitude questions, but honestly, I think of him as one of those guys that you hate when he's on another team but you like when he's suiting up on your side. Like an enforcer-lite, almost. He's feisty on defense, giving a lot of effort. And the Clippers were also the team that gave him his first shot in the NBA.

Take a look at this excerpt from a Fanhouse story from last November: "When Nash was told that Barnes was basically sticking up for him, he smiled and said, 'Matt's a good teammate.' "
