IHOP pancake deals
IHOP has two pancake deals that you might be interested in. One is going on until Feb. 22, the other is on Feb. 24 only.
All-you-can-eat pancakes are $5 until Feb. 22. This deal is not a regular menu item but appears a few times a year. If you don't see it on the menu ask for the Hungry Consumer Relief Plan.
Feb. 24 is National Pancake Day, when eaters can get a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes from 7 am to 10 pm. In exchange, you are asked to donate what you would have paid for the pancakes to their local children's hospital or another worthy cause.

I went to the iHop in Encino after a trip to the dentist, and had the "regular" breakfast, which includes the "all you can eat pancakes" in addition to a choice of eggs, bacon or sausage, and hash browns (yum!). That goes for $5.99 + tax. The "regular" meal would have been plenty without the two pancakes, so I nearly waddled out of the restaurant. I go to iHop about 4 times a year, so the first stop is now history!
So for $1 extra you got a choice of eggs, bacon or sausage and hash browns. Not bad. But now I'm craving their pancakes! ~Julia
Which IHOP you go to makes a difference, which is surprising if they all use IHOP batter. Years ago, my husband and I went to the IHOP in Chatsworth for the "all-you-can-eat" pancakes, and it was forgettable. Last Saturday, for the first time since the Chatsworth experience, we went to the location in West Hills (as we now live closer to that one). The place was crowded, but we were seated in a matter of a few minutes. We had the "no frills" pancakes (4 on a plate), and they were delicious. Unlike other places that claim their pancakes are buttermilk, we could taste the buttermilk flavor. Those four pancakes were enough for each of us. At $5 ($4.99) a plate, it's a good deal. Add $2.19 if you want coffee to wash down the pancakes.
The Encino location is the best!! The wait staff is friendly and the food is served hot and tasty. We go there twice a week for breakfast and have always had a good experience.
Bobbi, good to know. I have had very tasty pancakes at the West Hills location. ~Julia
Diane,
The coffee is where they get you. $2.19 for diner coffee?? Give me a break. I pass every time. ~Julia
Exactly how I feel about the coffee, but I don't like water to wash down pancakes. I figure if I have 2-3 cups (and I do), it brings down the price per cup. Also, $2.19 is not atypical for coffee-shop coffee.
Hi! How many pancakes are in the "short stack"?
But I really, really, really need coffee.
I haven't been to iHOP in years, but don't they plunk down an insulated pot full of coffee on each table?
That's the kind of thing I could get real comfortable with.
This is a smart deal for IHOP because how many pancakes can the average person throw down before they're immobile?
I, personally, probably can't go beyond five, and I can really eat if I put my mind to it.
And usually five is a "full stack."
Yes, they plunk down the pot and you must resist it or pay $2.19 extra. ~Julia
I think I got to three-and-a-half last time. They are so tasty, but really filling! ~Julia
