joann fabric.jpgGet 15% off your total purchase at Jo-Ann fabrics with a coupon that is good Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 9, 2008. Print the coupon here.

The discount is good on regular and sale-priced merchandise. If you make quilts (which is soooo much more difficult that it appears) or make your own clothing, this could be a good time to stock up.

Caveats: excludes gift cards, sewing machines and sewing machine dept merchandise, past purchases, cricut machines and cartridges.

Find a Jo-Ann Fabric store near you.

Thanks, Lynda!

Here's some tips for sewers (and not-so-sewers) for things to do with the sale fabrics:

Now's a good time to think about making things from fleece...save when buying, again when doing the work yourself (some projects require very little sewing - if at all) and then again when you turn the thermostat down but still stay warm.
And then...on top of that...the fleeces dry quickly when washed, so a little extra savings there.
Simple mufflers keep you suprisingly warm, and for a gift, all you have to be able to do is cut a straight line. Cut fringe or another decorative edge (or not)...if you've chosen a solid color you can personalize with initials or a cute applique (or not). For someone special (if you know they like scarves) give them an assortment...for different occasions. They brighten up a drab day or dark jacket and keep a draft off your neck without having to wear a jacket or sweater.
For a hood, cut a long strip (about 8-10" wide), fold it in half and sew a seam about 8 to 10" down one side (from the fold down). Wrap the long pieces around your neck...you can make it extra wide and fold the edge back for a fancier frame around your face...you'll have to decide how long you want the scarf parts to be and cut the length accordingly.
Cold hands? Cut a piece large enough to make a tube to slip your hands in (one seam). People with joint problems who have difficulty with gloves will welcome something like this that they can use.
In addition to stores having fleece on sale, you can often find pieces with even greater price reductions in the remnants section.
Got small pieces left over? Cut out small ornaments (attach a piece of yarn or ribbon for hanging) or add a pin to the back..a little glitter and you've got a small but personal item to share, or decorate a package. You can also keep the scraps for children to use for their own projects...
No kids?--use them for dusting or packing delicate items for shipping...the main thing is to have FUN with fabric...whatever you're doing!
Thanks for the forum Julia,
Lynda

To make a super quick fleece blankie, purchase 2 or 2 1/3 yards of fleece. Just trim off the edges to make it neat, trim the corners with a curve (or keep square), and then overedge with a large zigzag stitch on your machinge. Voila!!!! There are so many fun fleece fabrics (sports, girly girl, baby, seasonal).
