A little something for my family

| | Comments (0) |

UPDATE: We finally drew names and I got a certain sibling of mine. Earlier she mentioned a big ticket item on her list so I will probably just write her a check for $75 - the suggested limit of our secret santa family pool - to help her pay for the item. I'm being secretive because I'm lucky enough that my family reads my blog!! To make the gift more personal...

...I'm going to make her a cool card and write a nice note. I also got her a cookbook for $1 at a charity sale and have a little satchel of makeup I'm going to re-gift. Check one more off My Gift List. Only six more people to shop for, halfway there!

PREVIOUSLY: NamesoutofaHat.jpg My family is so big – I have six siblings – that Christmas can really get out of hand. A few years back we decided to put everybody's name into a hat. One by one we pick a name, tossing it back only if we happen to choose ourselves or our spouse. Then we buy a present for that person using an agreed upon dollar range as a guide. This year we haven't decided whether we'll do the pool or buy individual gifts but I prefer the pool because it takes the stress out of buying a million presents and it saves a lot of time and dough.
