Hunter's quad needs one more day

| | Comments (0) |

Torii Hunter will not return from his suspension tonight, as expected, because his tight left quadriceps still has not completely healed. Hunter first started feeling the tightness in Tuesday's game, one day after an on-field shoving incident with Yankees catcher Ivan Rodriguez (the injury and the shove are not related). He ended up missing games Wednesday and Thursday to serve a suspension, but it appears he would have missed those games anyway to take care of the quad.

To quote Hunter, he said he "definitely might" be back Saturday. Not sure what that means exactly, but when it was repeated back to him all Hunter said was "you're crazy." We'll take it as a compliment.

We'll take the time to interpret the comment here and say that Hunter definitely expects to be back Saturday but he reserves the right to miss the game if he needs to. But that's our words, and not his.
